One Eye

 

Grey is the ocean

and grey the sky

As grey as he who rides

The troubled forests by

 

By ancient trackways

and caverns cold

The path that never ends

The tales yet to be told

 

The self-deceivers

and prating fools

who try to seek for power

while only their fear rules

 

The eye that watches

The eye that waits

Bestows no mark of favour

on petty fears & hates

 

Great walls defend you

but you can't hide

look over your shoulder

the eye is open wide

 

When night has fallen

& all is clear

In silent darkness

what can you hear

The sound of one eye (echo: one eye) opening in your ear.
